Hollander Coffee House of Altoona will be on hand to sell regular and decaffeinated coffees, hot chocolate, tea, and plenty of pastries – scones, cinnamon rolls, Dutch letters and more for breakfast/mid morning snack. Check them out on the web at www.coffeehousehollander.com.

Welcome/Blessing of the Hounds
Jorene King, President of Heartland Greyhound Adoption, will give a welcome and introduction of the schedule of events. We will then pause for a blessing of the hounds from Jean Beckwith, chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Raffle and Auction Items on display
Come a view all the wonderful items that have generously donated for the Raffle and Auction.

Photo Contest Voting
Prairie Beach quests are invited to send or bring photos along with them for our contest. Prizes will be given out for the different categories:

Biscuit Hunt
Fashioned after a good old Easter egg hunt you and your hound will be on the look out for dog biscuits. There will be prizes awarded to those who find the “special” biscuits.

Doggie Day Spa
Have your hound’s nails trimmed and/or let your four-legged friend get a bath! Only $20 for a bath/nail trim and $15 for a bath.

Photos
Prairie Beach participants can have family portraits taken with their hounds! Photos will be taken by Deugan Photo of Des Moines. A group photo will also be taken of all the hounds and their people. Packages TBA.

Golden Oldie Competition
Everyone in attendance is invited to bring their hounds to the competition to determine the oldest Greyhound at Prairie Beach! “Golden Oldie” racing silks will be awarded to the oldest male and female hounds in attendance at the event.

Keeping Your Strength Up
The Hollander will have a variety of sandwiches and “yummies” available for lunch. If you want something different, there are several restaurants in Altoona. Ask a Prairie Beach volunteer for options.

Keynote Address
Rory DeSantiogo, Director of Racing at Bluffs Run and Christy Osborne, Trainer, will be on hand for a Question and Answer session. Learn what your hound’s life was like while living and racing at the track.

2008 Prairie Beach Auction & Raffle (at Haines Park Stage)
Prairie Beach participants will get the chance to bid on some premium items during our live auction. Items must be claimed and paid for at the end of the Auction.
